Canterbury Season Draws to a Close
Maryjean (above #1), our claim for the Canterbury Racing Club, made her first start for the group on Memorial Day and responded with a rallying 1/2 length victory in the $10,000 claiming race. Since then she's hit the board twice but was unable to capture her early form. She'll head to Hawthorne and we'll see if we can grab some wins there.
We also claimed Terice for the Club and she made her debut last week, finishing 4th after drawing the outside and being stuck wide most of the way. She closed decently and she's back in Thursday night in her Canterbury finale.
Bourbonology, our 5-year old mare by Gulch made it back to the races and ended up with back to back 6th place finishes in $20,000NW2 claiming races. She came back fine, we dropped her to the bottom and the best she could factor was 3rd. She's been retired and will have a job teaching kids to ride in Minnesota.
Elusive Edition, our 3-year old Minnesota bred filly, made her lifetime debut on June 29 and completely missed the break. She spotted the field 7 - 10 lengths. While she was able to hustle to catch the group, she was tired by the effort and flattened out. Unfortunately it didn't get much better from there though she showed a bit of a spark going long. She'll take the winter off and we'll see if we can make a router out of her.
We were WAY off of our career averages this year, but we will bounce back, there is not a doubt in my mind. We still have one start at Canterbury and hopefully a couple at Hawthorne where we can get some momentum heading into 2015.
