Somerset Wish Retires With A Victory!

Somerset Wish with her groom, Rianne, before her career finale on August 24.

Somerset Wish ended her racing career on a high note this afternoon.  Wish prevailed by a head bob over her stablemate in a stirring stretch drive that showcased the heart she has shown for her owners over the past two years.  Congratulations to all of the partners: Tony Miller, Brian Nodolf, Jack Gresser and especially David Miller, managing partner of Star of the North Racing who campaigned Wish and Somerset Sam and with whom GRS is proudly associated.

After nine months of continuous racing, Fizzy Pop is heading out to the farm for some down time.  He'll come back to training again in December and look for him over the Tampa Bay turf in January 2009.

Keep in touch with all the latest developments with Ted's Blog and please fill out our contact form if you want to be notified of upcoming events and partnership opportunities.  GRS connected horses are winning at a 20% clip right now and we're hoping to carry that momentum through the fall and into the winter.

New Groups Forming NOW!

Race horse ownership, both thoroughbred and standardbred (harness), is an exciting but challenging endeavor.  Racing and breeding partnerships have become a popular way of spreading the joys, while mitigating the risks, of ownership.

We’re now gearing up to launch our next claiming partnership for the 2008 – 09 racing season.  We will be claiming a horse or two with Tammy Domenosky in Chicago.   The summer will be spent here at Canterbury Park, though should we get lucky and develop a horse that can move onward and upward, we will let the horse go as far as it can.  There will be enough capital to cover three months worth of expenses.

This partnership will consist of between 20 and 40 shares priced at $1,250 per share.  One fully subscribed share will give the partner a 2.5% stake.  The final percentage of ownership will be determined by the number of units finally subscribed.  Ted will own 4 shares and partners can purchase as many shares as they would like.  Should we be oversubscribed, preference will be given to partners purchasing multiple shares.

If there is interest, we may try a lower cost, more aggresive partnership with a $500 buy in and the goal of buying lower priced horses with the intention of having a lot of turnover.  We won't claim to push very high up the ladder, but to run back for purses with the hope that we get claimed a level up and then turn our attentions to the next horse.  It would be a unique approach, but it would provide for a lot of action at a lower entry point.

Finally, we will be claiming in Tampa again this winter with Bernell Rhone.  Parameters will be similar to the Chicago partnership above.

In the claiming game, it's all about value and finding the hidden value in a horse that someone else has missed.  We were able to do that with our trainer with Fizzy Pop and are on the lookout to do that again this Fall.  Contact us for more information and join our mailing list today!

We have opened up a new claiming group that will operate in the Chicago area this winter.    This summer was a success running at Canterbury Park with our 4-year old gelding  named Fizzy Pop.  Fizzy was in the money in 5 of 7 starts including two wins!  Fizzy is taking some well deserved R&R for 60 days and will be brought back at Tampa this winter.

Check our our opportunities page for details.

Please contact us anytime! We look forward to hearing from you.
